Asia Pacific Studies and the World's Most Dynamic Region

The University of San Francisco (USF) offers a unique Master of Arts in Asia Pacific Studies (MAPS) program. The MAPS program offers an interdisciplinary approach to the Asia Pacific region through history, language, literature, politics, business and economics. Graduates of the program qualify for positions in education, nonprofits, government, foreign service and international business. Students can choose a concentration in Humanities/Social Science or Business. The Master's program is two years full-time, or more than two years if part-time.

There is also an option to pursue a dual degree program from which students complete both the MAPS and MBA degrees. The MAPS/MBA program can be completed in three years.

The MAPS program follows a cohort model, which allows faculty to tailor topics and projects in the courses to the unique needs and interests of individuals in each cohort. Complementary strengths among students in the cohort provide the opportunity to learn with and from one another. Additionally, first-year students are offered the option of a second-year mentor who helps guide them in their studies. A number of graduate scholarships are available to MAPS students, both U.S. and international students.

More information is available about the College of Arts and Sciences and applying online, as well as information for international graduate students.

The university offers rigorous and innovative graduate programs with a truly extraordinary faculty filled with professors who are experts in their fields and passionate about research. USF's faculty members are dedicated to providing high-quality, personalized attention to their students by having small class sizes.

Students enjoy the rich experiences available in San Francisco, one of the world's most vibrant, cosmopolitan, and beautiful cities. As the financial, cultural and technological center of the West Coast of the U.S., the San Francisco Bay Area is one of the most economically advanced regions of the world. San Francisco's diverse population draws people from around the world, while the Pacific Ocean climate of the city is moderate all year round. Outside the city, USF students experience California's many other attractions, such as the Napa Valley wine country, the Redwood forests, Pacific beaches, the mountains surrounding Lake Tahoe, and the Big Sur Coast.
